Reflect and Temporarily Relive

Ah, New Years Eve. The prime time for reflection of the past year. 2014 was epic and not just because I started college. There were fashion icons popping up left and right and below I have listed my personal top five.

#5- Kim Kardashian
As much as I hate to admit it, Mrs. West did her thing this past year in terms of style. In my opinion it was LARGELY due to her new hubby but hey, I would let Kanye switch up my closet as well. The monochrome palette and earthy tones work extremely well for her and the couple's recent Balmain Ad Campaign is absolutely stunning!

#4- Solange Knowles
2014 has been an eventful year for Solange. From the elevator "situation" following the 2014 Met Gala to her beautiful wedding in New Orleans, Solange has not ceased to look stunning. Her amazing afro and tasteful print mixing definitely puts her in my top five. I recommend following her on Instagram for a daily dose of fabulousness.

#3- Kendall Jenner
I have to applaud Kendall Jenner for breaking out of the world of reality television and shoving herself into the world of fashion. As a rising supermodel she is definitely taking the industry by storm modeling in shows some girls can only dream of which places her in my top five. Keep up the good work girl.

#2- Rihanna
Rihanna is always and will always be in my top five. She is never afraid to pop out in something daring and even controversial which I truly respect and admire, Her bantu knots and green lipstick at the iHeartRadio Music Awards was so gorgeous and her sheer dress at the CDFA Awards was shocking yet somehow elegant. I love it.

And last but not least #1... Lupita Nyong'o
When I say I love this women, I mean I LOVE HER. She is the embodiment of class, elegance, grace, and overall fantabulousness. She can wear any and every color and look flawless. Her look is always effortless from head to toe which is why she is my number one fashion icon of 2014.

Agree? Disagree? Anyone else you would want to see added? Leave a comment and let me know! Have a Happy Happy New Year and stay profashional.

Fall 2014 Nail Colors

Although we are starting to miss those hot summer days, there are a number of things to look forward to this Fall. The changing leaves, oversized sweaters, bright scarves, knee high boots and fresh manicures are more than enough to make any girl excited for the change in season. Nail colors this Fall range from moody blues to creamy nudes but the top three shades are berry reds, dark chocolates, and royal purples.

Berry Reds
These deep ruby shades add elegance to any daytime or nighttime look. Some colors to try this season are Orly’s “Rock on Red”, OPI’s “That’s Berry Daring” from their Bright’s collection, Butter London’s “Pillar Box Red” and Essie’s “Bordeaux”.
Essie's "Bordeaux"
Dark Chocolates
Rich browns in deep, burnt shades compliment any skin tone and are definitely the trend this season. Some colors to try are OPI’s “Rich Chocolate” from their Brazil collection, Essie’s “Partner in Crime”, Sally Hansen’s “Haute Chocolate” and Zoya’s “Emilia”.

Last week Monday, I had the fantabulous opportunity to escort Mr. Edward Lewis, yes THE Edward Lewis, around my campus for his book signing tour. As the Public Relations/ Social Media Director for my school's magazine organization Cover2Cover , I was notified of his visit before other students and jumped on the chance to be with him. His day was filled with a variety of events but he still took the time to talk to me and answer any question I threw his way. I learned a lot from Mr. Lewis and am very thankful that I had the chance to meet him and speak with him about the world of magazine publications. I have posted the pictures I took of and with Mr. Lewis below. Hope you enjoy!

All Moved In!

Almost a month later and I can finally say that I am officially settled in at school! It's been a little crazy trying to adjust to the new lifestyle and new found freedom but I think I'm making do. I just wanted to post some pictures of my room to show how it came out.

Please excuse the suitcase and trunk in the background, I took this picture when the room was still a little hectic. I'm still searching for some Chinese paper lantern string lights to hang above my bed but I really do love how it came out! Leave a comment and let me know how you personalized your room or what you plan on doing with it. And as always remember to stay profashional!

Dorm Decor Time!

I leave for school in exactly one week and one of the many things on my mind is what the hell my dorm is going to look like! Getting decorations for my dorm has been a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. I want my room to be cute yet cultural yet colorful (but not too colorful) and stylish at the same time. I sound crazy I know. Choosing a color scheme was not hard though. I always knew it was going to be purple, black and white for the simple fact that purple is my favorite color and symbolizes royalty. (I am a princess so it's fitting ya know?) Black and white because they are such chic colors. Over these past couple of weeks, Bed Bath and Beyond has been my bestest friend. I also picked up some things from Target and Urban Outfitters  I've included  pictures of two of the items I plan on putting in my dorm. When my room is all done, I will definitely post a picture!

I plan on hanging the tapestry right next to my bed and pinning significant places as well as places I want to visit on it. I bought purple and white sheets for my comforter set which I will use interchangeably. Keep in mind that this is just a little preview! Pictures will come soon (in approximately a week) of the finished product! (tapestry) (bedding)

If you have any cool ideas about what you plan on putting in your dorm, leave a comment and let me know! And as always, stay profashional!

Recollect and Revamp!

It's almost that time of year when universities all over the country will be flooded by eagerly confused freshman. In a couple of weeks, car trunks will be filled to the brim with suitcases and boxes, teenagers will be leaving the comfort of home and parents will have to face the reality that their baby is growing up. BUT, before all this happens, closets will be revamped! I will be attending Howard University in the Fall and being that it is the second best dressed university in the country, I have a serious reputation to maintain. According to Women's Wear Daily, students at Howard dress in a way that portrays "an air of confidence, a sense of where they're going." Being that move in day is in approximately 16 days, 10 hours and 12 minutes, I have decided that it's time to really start getting my life together. I need trousers, harem pants, wide leg pants, joggers, colored jeans, anything/everything high waisted, crop tops, button ups, loose fit blouses, oversized cardigans, kimonos, and the list goes on. I am so excited to begin shopping and really start over.
Essentially, college is a time to give yourself a makeover. If you did not like certain things about yourself in high school, now is the perfect time to get it together! Sit down and make a list of things you would like to change for the better. Whether it be walk with your head held a little higher, or throw away those jeans that make your butt look small, recollect then revamp! Comment and tell me what you plan to do before leaving for school!
And as always, stay profashional!

Sad, I Know.

Honestly, I have become so careless and I am disappointed in myself. When I started this blog, I was determined to keep it updated and now it has been MONTHS since I have posted. I want to be successful and in order to be successful, I have to work for it. I have made up my mind to keep this blog instead of starting a new one and actually keep it updated posting at the very least once a week. Instead of sticking to clothing, I am going to post about any trend that catches my eye. Whether is be clothing, dorm accessories or issues in the world, I am going to blog about it. I am back and ready to blog.

As always, stay profashional.
